Photographers
My last post was about news photographers or photojournalists. Taking pictures with a 35 mm camera is another type of photographer. Maybe you have a natural talent that was developed as a child or you took a class in college. Photography is a talent that everyone does not have. I can take photographs but friend Tracy Stokes could take works of art. This was a hobby he developed early on which later came to be an asset in his career. He had an eye for seeing a beautiful background in an ordinary surrounding. As a journalist he got the opportunity to take photographs of the celebrities during the inauguration. There are many industry positions that need a photographer. On the set of movies, a photographer is needed to take still shots of the scene. A state may have a photographer position to capture the beauty of state. Military installations need photographers to document combat situations. Photography is an excellent way to make money on the side. Use your photographic eye to find beauty and a lucrative career. Here are a few opportunites:

Job Description
Provide professional studio and photojournalism photography, including emphasis on 35mm and 120mm digital cameras. Document one-time events without the possibility of a photo re-shoot. Perform digital image editing, digital archives and demonstrate proficient use of Photoshop software. Prepare graphics arts and multimedia presentations, including image galleries on websites. Perform on-call Alert Photograph duties. Some assignments may be at a remote location where images are captured electronically and uploaded from that location in real-time utilizing File Transfer Protocol (FTP) software.
Three years professional studio and photojournalism experience is required. Current Drivers license is required. Experience should include a working knowledge of the subject matter to be photographed. Employee must be able to determine lighting, shutter speed, lens settings, filters, camera angles, prior to photographing subject. Employees must be skilled using 35mm, 120mm film, and 35mm digital cameras, and allowed the opportunity for repeated shots or for retakes if the original exposure is unsatisfactory. The employees must possess an expert knowledge of digital image editing. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

• Stay current in newsgathering and production technologies for print and electronic platforms.
• Maintain photo/video equipment and car.
• Participate in staff development and training, including safety practices and procedures.

About the Position: The workforce of Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) is made up of varied professionals in the challenges of chemical and biological defense testing and counter terrorism and consequence management for the civilian sector. The majority of the workforce is on a 40 hour workweek from Monday thru Thursday leaving themselves a consistent 3 day weekend. DPG is physically remote, but entirely self-sufficient as regards housing and community needs. Nevertheless, many of its workforce choose to commute from outside communities. There are commuter vans that employees join and are subsidized by the Government. This subsidy is offered in addition to the remote site pay given to employees that commute over 50 miles one way to work and work in the remote test areas of Ditto, Carr, Baker, etc. Salt Lake City is only a short 1 1/2 hour drive and the beauty of Moab, Zions National Park and Lake Powell are also within a short days drive. As a Photographer, you will design unusual configurations of specialized instrumentation cameras and associated equipment to acquire a photo-optical record of chemical and biological events under unusual conditions. Conduct studies on feasibility of realignment and integration of existing equipment with newer, more advanced equipment, and to design unusual configurations of specialized optical data acquisition systems to accommodate unusual engineering requirements of future testing programs. Integrate the photographic record into the test plan, and ensure the collection of the proper types and quality of data to meet the test objectives. Acts as the Contracting Officer Representative on major procurement contracts. Prepares operation plans detailing optical support for the test. Performs detailed visual studies of the high speed video/tapes, extracts pertinent numerical data, and translates optical data into terms understood by test engineers
