Train at CNN

Want to train and get paid at the same time? Check out CNN. I have heard that CNN has many entry level training programs in all areas. CNN is looking for recent college graduates. Now do not expect to make on air money. When they say entry level, they mean entry level  but the experience is invaluable. It will look good on your resume to say that you trained at CNN. Posting Job Description The Turner Trainee Team (T3) Program is designed to provide individuals who are recent college graduates who majored in or have had some experience in journalism, interactive design, media communication or a related field, hands-on learning experience for 11 months at CNN.com. The goal of the program is to serve as a pipeline for talent into our entry level positions (Associate Producer and Multimedia Designer). The next round of T3's will begin in July 2010- we will look to hire at that time. Our goal is to attract and attain those who have a desire to work for TBS, Inc. and have the commitment to learn and blend their skills into our culture.



Application Requirements

Applicants must be a recent college graduate with Bachelors degree at the start of the program.



Anticipated Start Date for this Assignment: July 2010



Qualifications: College graduates who majored in web/interactive design with a minor or have had some experience in journalism, media communication or a related field. Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, HTML and basic Action scripting. Skills preferred but not mandatory are: Web Portfolio that demonstrates skill level and Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills. Solid Action scripting and JavaScript skills. Must demonstrate the following: Teamwork, Industry Knowledge (interactive design and journalism), Client Service, Desire to learn, and Creativity.



Duties:

Work with the Design and Interactives groups to create basic design elements for the CNN.com website in addition to develop production graphics for larger projects. Gather and create relevant images, sound bites, graphics, and other interactive elements to enhance stories, as requested by assignment producers, the design department, editorial, and other staff members. Monitor satellite feeds and other sources for the latest video and images available to keep stories fresh and updated. Perform research to support staff members in producing stories.The projects will be varied and support the separate businesses such as Marketing, Video, Special Projects, Wireless, New Business Development and Editorial. Support and provide coverage in the CNN.com newsroom. Work with Special Reports Team to support both design and production graphic development, including sometimes basic flash design for more complicated projects. General web design support for other projects in department as needed. Work with design team to learn and apply new techniques to innovate in developing, designing and scripting cutting edge interactives. Use of video, animation, photography will be prevalent.
