Seeking freelance Production Assistant to work on Spanish enhancement of HBO Sports productions. Openings available for various shows. The PA will work on day of production. Weekday availability required.



Responsibilities
include:


•Record and log studio shoot; oversee dubs for Spanish show

•Pick up screening cassettes from Sports department

•Conform scripts using screening cassettes

•Research background information

•Coordinate meal orders and delivery

•General production support



Skills:

Job Description

Responsible for the set up, operation and strike of audio, lighting and video equipment for clients’ live events (i.e. corporate meetings; musical, television, theatrical and special events)

Duties And Responsibilities

Depending on the needs of the particular assignment, may perform one or all of the following duties:

♦*Video – operates video switcher and tape machines; directs or assists in the construction, wiring, and timing of the video system; color matches and shades cameras; routes video signals to record bays, projection and other mediums; sets and strike video equipment; runs and labels cables; sets up tape, DVD and computer graphics; controls CCU units for camera shading, color and white balance.

♦*Camera – operates camera at fixed or non-fixed position; sets and strikes booms, tripods, lenses, camera and camera risers; runs and labels CCU cables.

♦*Audio – operates sound console; directs or assists in the construction, placement, tuning, operation and strike of audio systems; creates and manages show audio controls for computers, instant replay, video playback and other automated forms of control; assists in running cables, snakes, power and rig assembly for audio systems, back line, microphones; E.Q’s sound systems.

♦*Projection – Places, sets and focuses projection systems; troubleshoots and color matches projectors; ensures correct color and black levels.

♦*Graphics/PowerPoint – works closely with client or presenter to construct and/or edit PowerPoint presentations, show graphics and other computer generated displays on all aspects of design and content; performs slide cueing and advancement functions.

♦Reports hours to office if no Crew Chief on duty.

♦Performs other related duties as required.

News 8 Austin - Freelance Anchor/Video Journalist (Austin, TX)
 
 



SUMMARY




News 8 Austin is searching for a Freelance Anchor/Video Journalist to work in our newsroom for approximately five months in the summer of 2010. We're looking for an interactive story-teller with great live-on-air personality and journalism chops. You will work on a variety of subjects, in-depth on issue-oriented stories.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



As an Anchor:



• Deliver live news reports in a poised, authoritative, credible and conversational manner.

• Ad-lib in a knowledgeable, attentive fashion and deal with on-air problems professionally and in a manner which minimizes disruption to viewers.

• Write news copy as assigned and assist producers and EPs with copy/script editing.

• Maintain a strong familiarity with local, state, and national news issues of the day by reading newspapers and monitoring competition to the point that the Anchor can ad-lib or generally speak to issues credibly during breaking news situations.

• Maintain a strong familiarity of all key local news makers and news figures.



As a Video Journalist:



• Gather information for stories, using beat sources, contacts and leads.

• Reports, shoots, writes and edits news stories within assigned deadlines. Stories should be compelling, factually correct, creative, and written in a clear, concise conversational manner.

• Will work primarily alone to report and shoot stories.

• Combines video, audio, and graphics to effectively tell the story.

• Gathers information for stories, using beat sources, contacts and leads.

• Enterprises daily story ideas, and works assigned beats.

• Delivers reports, including live reports with the assistance of a photojournalist, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance, and

voice quality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are required. Must have strong computer and software skills.



REQUIREMENTS



• Lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.

• Ability to work inside and outside throughout the year in extreme weather conditions.

• Must be flexible to work weekends, evenings, and holidays when required.

• Must have a valid Driver's License and good driving record.

• On-call 24/7 and must carry a station-provided cell phone.
