Happy 4th of July!


Happy 4th of July Everybody!!
I have been on vacation! For those of you on the internet tonight after the fireworks, here are a few things I found this weekend! I will be updating more often!! I'm back and refreshed! Happy Hunting!


Community Web Producer at WUSA in Washington, DC

Be part of a growing online news team organizing communities through WUSA9's network of local news websites. We're looking for a talented and creative person who is willing to be completely immersed in hyper local community news and activities in order to publish great content and build successful websites.




Report, write, select and publish original news and other stories to assigned station websites.



Develop a network of strong sources within your assigned communities.



Organize, coordinate and attend community meetups of any given size.



Ensure consistency and accuracy of stories on the site and identify threats and opportunities in user generated content.



React to and post breaking news quickly and accurately and keep in constant communication with the stations news department.



Monitor newscasts, social media trends and other sources for news and distinguish newsworthy stories for for the site.



Capture, edit and post still images and video to the site.



Work autonomously and use individual judgment on content to post to sites.



Other duties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred (Degree in communications, public relations, or related field), Strong writing skills, Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and keyword research, Understand the social media universe (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Foursquare, Gowalla, Delicious, Flickr, wikis, blogs, etc.), Demonstrate creativity and documented immersion in social media., Functional knowledge of content management systems (such as Wordpress, Blogger, etc), Experience with Photoshop and digital video editing is preferred, Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work well with a diverse group of people, Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time., Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines, Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.



Qualified job candidates must be willing and able to travel (either by car and/or Metro) to various events in their community. They must live and continue to reside in the Washington, DC metro area. Equipment will be provided to the producer.

H.S. Football Web Producer

Job Description


This is a temporary part-time position. We need a person to assist with our High School Football efforts Fridays- this will include but is not limited to updating our high school website by gathering scores from around the DMA, uploading video and offering any additional fresh content (videos, slide shows, stories) to the High School Football page





Responsibilities

Additionally, this person will assist in the Game of the Week efforts - communicating with schools, set-up, promotional efforts

Example of Duties Performed:



1. Write and edit materials for target audiences, integrating written content with still images, audio and video components.

2. Coordinate with online staff and news department for the latest breaking news.

3. Update materials throughout the day to put breaking news on the site.

4. Work with Special Projects unit to produce interactive multimedia pieces.

5. Conceptualizing, creating and maintaining new content areas on the web site.

6. Stream live video for web.

7. Photography and shooting video for use on the web and/or newscast.

8. Interact with/correctly routing users of the site who have questions, suggestions or complaints.

9. Edit and proof content.

10. Troubleshoot problems that develop with HTML, XML or other computer languages used to create and maintain web content.

11. Perform other duties as required by the Internet Director



Requirements :



1. Education: College degree preferred, with an emphasis in Communications.



2. Experience: Minimum 1-2 years experience.



3. Skills/Abilities: Must be able to manage multiple priorities under extreme time pressures. Flexible work hours required including holidays, weekends, evenings and overtime. Basic HTML, Photoshop and CMS experience a plus.
